Lakeville Arts & Music Festival – October 4, 2008
The Fourth Annual Lakeville Arts & Music Festival took place October 4, 2008 in Lakeville, MA. The festival featured music, food, artisans and crafters, as well as children’s activities. For the second year in a row, the one-day festival also featured the talents of street painting artist, Michael Macaulay as he created a large street painting depicting “New England’s Champions” (the New England Patriots, the Boston Celtics, the Boston Red Sox, the Boston Bruins, and the New England Revolution). Michael worked quickly and efficiently to complete the 10’ x 10’ street painting in less than 5 hours. It was a definite attraction at the festival as crowds of people gathered throughout the day to watch the artwork take form before their eyes. They watched as Michael diligently worked the chalk into the pavement, creating the likenesses of five of New England’s current sports heroes, including the New England Patriots’ Tom Brady, the Boston Celtics’ Kevin Garnett, the Boston Red Sox’ David Ortiz, the Boston Bruins’ Tim Thomas, and the New England Revolution’s Taylor Twellman. It was apparent that many New England sports fans were on hand for the street painting was a big hit with the festival attendees.
Roger Williams Park Zoo - October 19, 2008
This year Providence, Rhode Island’s Roger Williams Park Zoo held its annual Spooky Zoo event and it was bigger and better than ever. The event was packed with Halloween and harvest inspired activities for adults and children alike. One of the main attractions at the zoo this year was street painting artist, Michael Macaulay as he created a 3-D street painting depicting a hungry alligator lurking in the water beneath a log bridge. A creepy tarantula sits upon the log and a jack-o-lantern looks on as well. This 8’ x 12’ street painting was completed in four hours as Michael worked meticulously to complete the project so zoo goers would have an opportunity to enjoy the artwork. The piece drew quite a crowd throughout the day. Children attending the zoo were eager to walk across the bridge, and their parents had as much fun taking their picture. The three dimensional effect showed well in photographs.
