Joel Yau at the '1 Concurso Festival Madonnari' in Guanajuato, Mexico

   

Street painter Joel Yau recently returned from a fun street painting trip in Mexico.  Here is what Joel told Blog Now on streetpainting.tv about his experience...

 

"The 1st Festival Madonnari in Guanajuato, Mexico was at a fantastic venue, the steps in front of the historic Teatro Juárez. There were 5 out of town artists including myself and 3 other local artists as featured exhibition guest Madonnari and several local artists lined the main street to compete at this premier chalk event. The festival was dedicated to the 100th Birthday of Guanajuato's beloved artist José Chávez Morado and this event was organized by the State Institute of Culture."

 

 

"I painted a detail of French master, Paul Delaroche's piece entitled "Herodias" from 1843. Although the finished chalked painting looked smooth, the rough cobble stone surface sure was a challenge to work on."

 

 

"There were music from local entertainers serenading us and the crowd with their favorite traditional tunes. All in all a very pleasant street painting experience."
