International street painter Rod Tryon is well known for his cool nature-themed 3D street paintings. His latest is called 'Pink Flamingos' which he created at the Lake Worth Festival in Florida!
“I decided to do a 3D image with some local Florida color for the street painting festival at Lake Worth, Feb. 19-21. My image was of two flamingos standing in a circular stone pool with a native Floridian corn snake in the foreground. The image measured 10 feet wide by 15 feet high and took me approximately 25 hours.
The street surface was a combo of asphalt and crushed shell, so the pastels didn't stick very well when applied directly. Most everyone applies a rectangular coating of washable tempera paint as a base so the pastels have a surface to adhere to.
It was a wonderful weekend. The weather cooperated and everyone had a great time.”
