Festival Bella Via Reynosa was held March 19-21 in Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico. Street painter Ruben Martinez (Madonnaro Qualificati from Monterrey) was there working on a team project to help introduce Reynosa to the artform of street painting! Alongside Ruben were street painters Yurixe Padilla (who won the People's Choice Award for Renaissance Theme at Festival Bella Via Monterrey 2009) and Javier Guillén (Madonnaro Semplici that has particiapted in other festivals).
Their street painting was the well-known 'La Primavera' and the team worked on their piece from Friday afternoon until late Sunday afternoon, about seventeen hours. The finished street painting was 3 meters x 3 meters, about 10' x 10', for this very detailed and beautiful reproduction.
'La Primavera' or 'Allegory of Spring' was originally painted in 1477-78 by Italian Renaissance painter Sandro Botticelli. The original painting, 315 cm x 205 cm, was painted for the villa of Lorenzo di Pierfrancesco de' Medici at Castello. It is now in the Uffizi Galleria in Florence, Italy.
Ruben told Blog Now on streetpainting.tv that the team was very happy to be invited to Reynosa and to help introduce street painting to the people there! I'm sure the audience really enjoyed the art!
