The first Colors of Willemstad Street Painting Festival took place on March 27 & 28, 2010 on the beautiful Caribbean Island of Curacao. Street painter Lee Jones shares some photos and thoughts about her work and Curacao.
LJ: "Curacao is a beautiful island full of wonderful and very nice people. Besides truly enjoying the art form of street painting, I love traveling to new places and meeting new people. The people in Curacao were extremely friendly and I have many new friends."

LJ: "When you google Curacao... this is the shot that is most popular, This is a line of shops right along the water that are painted in beautiful colors. I chalked right in front of the blue building to the far left of the photo. Freeport Jewelers was my sponsor and that was one of their shops."
LJ: "This shot was just a close up of the previous photo with the ship anchored along the river. I said to the owner of the ship, "You have a beautiful boat!". I was quickly corrected that it was a ship! He was also an artist and tried to get me aboard to show me some of his art. I was too busy chalking."
LJ: "My final piece turned out pretty well, but as I said...I was forced to loosen up a bit. I do not usually do a piece twice, but this one I would like to draw again on a smoother surface to be able to add the detail."

LJ: "Completing a piece is always rewarding, but completing a street painting after being in the sun for a couple days and dealing with dust storms and exhaust fumes...PRICELESS! I look like a tomato!"
