Blog Now on streetpainting.tv is happy to share a new street painting from Lorelle Miller, a reproduction of a detail of 'Apollo and the Continents' created in 1752-53 in the stairwell of the Residenz, in Wurzburg. Lorelle recounts "...In this image, Apollo has left his palace, floating slowly downward, accompanied by two of the Horae, while the sun shines out behind him. This is a mythological representation of the sun rising over the Earth, which is symbolized by the surrounding continents. The sun appears as a life-giving force which determines the course of the days, months, and years. It is a dramatic piece which I felt carried a sense of awe and inspiration. The audience was thrilled by all the street paintings (at the festival) and my piece was very well received.
Lorelle spent three days working on the street painting, which took about twenty hours time to complete. She did the drawing freehand except for two lines to help place the piece in the square. Lorelle does this as a matter of personal artistic discipline, allowing her the freedom and courage to draw in a very organic manner which she finds pleasing to do. She loves the art form of street painting, calling it "... a complete and utter indulgence and obsession when she is creating her art..."
We hope to share more beautiful street painting from Lorelle soon.
