Shawn McCann posing with his 3D Street Painting 'A View from the Butte' in North Dakota this past weekend. The finished chalk art was 10' x 15' and took Shawn two full days to complete.
Shawn shared his thoughts with Blog Now on Streetpainting.tv about the event...
"From the moment I stepped back into my home state, I knew the 3D street painting I was going to be working on would be a blast. The Bismarck Capital A'Fair is an art festival that is held annually on the grounds of the state capital in Bismarck, North Dakota. With over a 130 artisans from around the country, it was a fun filled weekend of art. For the street painting that I worked on "A View from the Butte", being located at the base of the capital was a perfect location for the 3D street painting to come alive. Having just two days to work, the piece quickly took shape and the crowd started to see how the perspective really brought the piece out. For myself, the most gratifying reactions that were heard was when you would get that "wow", it is 3D when looking through the camera. To have them go back and forth from their own eyesight to the camera and back again was great and fun to see."

"Overall, everyone at the fair was a treat to visit and talk with. Having people consistently come back to check on the progress of the piece was fun and a great incentive to keep the work alive! Thought the weather was really hot and humid, the fair had a fun and energetic vibe that kept the weekend hopping!
Kids and adults really enjoyed the street painting and had fun posing on the butte and taking pictures.
