Street painting by Sandy Bailey
Via Colori®, 2010 was held September 11-12 in Kentucky. This unique street painting festival included over 45 artists from the Elizabethtown, Louisville, Lexington, and Bowling Green areas and some from out-of-state. The two day event was held in the heart of downtown Elizabethtown, KY for the first time since it started in KY in 2008, it was previously held in Bardstown. There was a kid’s area, car show, food, art sales, crafts and live entertainment. Due to weather, the event closed early on Saturday the 11th, however, on the 12th not only did the weather show up but so did the community! There were hundreds of community members that browsed through the chalk drawings, much of which were washed away on Saturday, thus re-creation was held on Sunday. The featured artist for the event was Cassie Russell from Louisville, KY. All proceeds from the event benefit the Advocacy & Support Center, a non profit organization in Elizabethtown that provides services to victims of sexual violence. The event for 2011 will be held in downtown Elizabethtown the second weekend in September as well. For more information regarding KY Via Colori®, visit www.kyviacolori.com.
