‘Balloons at the Fair’ 3-D Street Painting by Rod Tryon
Rod Tryon (pictured) adding detail to the bottle of Coca-Cola attached to a group of multicolored balloons during a street painting exhibition sponsored by Midwest Coca-Cola Bottlers at the Minnesota State Fair, one of the largest State Fairs in the United States. The Fair attracts approximately 100,000 visitors daily during its run from August 21st through September 1st, 2008.
Here is a view of Rod’s ‘Balloons at the Fair’ 3-D street painting approaching completion. You can see the bottle of Coca-Cola appears to be standing up with the bunch of multicolored balloons tied to the top of the bottle. The imagery of the Minnesota State Fair is drawn to be around the Coke bottle with the balloons, reminding the viewers of the beauty and good memories at the Fair.
During the street painting process, Rod is applying the chalk to create the high level of finish seen in the balloons portion of the 3-D street painting. The street painting appears to be stretched, which is due to the unique way the artwork needs to be drawn on the asphalt in order to achieve the popular 3-D effect seen in photos on the internet.
Rod is viewed by a large crowd of Fair visitors seeing the anamorphic method in street painting, many for the first time live.
This was the completion of the 3-D street painting ‘Balloons at the Fair’ by Rod Tryon on August 26th, 2008. This street painting as well as the ‘Ice Block’ also completed by Rod will be on display for Minnesota State Fair visitors until September 1st, 2008.
